4 practical rules when choosing a shelf type

• Start from the product's weight: the load each shelf must carry determines the sheet thickness and carrier type. Choosing an elegant but light unit for a heavy product is the most expensive mistake.
• Give the perimeter to capacity and the middle to circulation: go high along the walls, keep the middle of the store low, so the customer can see the whole store from any point.
• Don't sacrifice the aisle to the shelf: leave 120–150 cm in main aisles and 90–120 cm in secondary ones. Too much shelving combined with narrow aisles pushes sales down.
